For the non-fishing members in your group, or if you would simply like to take a rest from catching our fish, there are plenty of local attractions and other activities to keep everyone occupied. A few of our personal favourites are listed below.
Etang Bertie is perfectly situated to allow you to explore the medieval towns of Laval and Vitre.
Vitre, just 20 minutes away, boasts a wonderful chateau with quaint bars, restaurants and shops nestled in the cobbled streets surrounding the chateau. For those with a sense of adventure (and a lot of room on your credit card), you can get the TGV direct to Paris.
Laval is a much larger town, with the river Mayenne coursing through it's heart and in true French style, there is also a chateau. Sticking with tradition, the local market offers a wide range of typical French produce as well as fashion items direct from Paris.
Many of our guests have commented that they enjoyed nothing more than sipping a glass of wine in the evening alongside the floodlight chateau and re-living their 40lb catch of the day!
For those of you who enjoy good food and a bargain, the nearby village of Gennes sur Seiche is home to a wonderful restaurant-cum-bar offering both lunchtime and evening meals.
If you fancy a day at the beach, Mont St. Michelle is 90 minutes away and being in the Bretagne region, naturally has clean, sandy beaches - not to mention a whole host of seafood restaurants.
